Tampa Loses 4-1 in 20 Innings

by @ 11:09 pm. Filed under Tampa Yankees - April 2007, George Kontos, Francisco Cervelli

Now this is a marathon.  Tampa was on the short end of a 20 inning, more then five hour game to Clearwater.  George Kontos was great in his start and he threw 6 1/3 shutout innings and struck out eleven.  Unfortunately. he gave up one run and the end of regulation, the game was tied 1-1.  Eleven innings later, the Yankees finally lost it in the 20th by the score of 4-1.  Four relievers combined to throw ten innings of shutout ball.

The lone run was driven in by Francisco Cervelli.  He was also the only Tampa hitter to finish with two hits and he went two for eight with a double.
