RiverDogs Hold On To Beat Rome

by @ 6:01 pm. Filed under Dellin Betances, Jonathan Ortiz, Wady Rufino, Abraham Almonte, Charleston RiverDogs - April 2008

Here’s one reason why the save statistic can be a bit off at times.  Jonathan Ortiz gave up two earned runs in the top of the ninth inning to make a three run game a razor thin, one run victory.  For his troubles, he picked up the save because he came into the game with a three run lead.  Dellin Betances had a nice start.  He gave up two runs on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in five innings.  The two runs came on a pair of solo homers.

Wady Rufino went two for four with a homerun and two RBIs in the 5-4 win.  Abraham Almonte went three for four with an RBI.
