Staten Island was gone from the playoffs after just two games as they were held in check by the Cyclones. A pretty solid start by Darrell Rasner went to waste. He gave up two runs on two hits and one walk with three strikeouts in five innings.
Donald Hollingsworth went two for three and he drove in the only Yankees run in the 3-1 loss. Taylor Holiday went two for four with a double.
Staten Island must have been looking forward at their playoff series with the Cyclones as they were blown out 11-2 in their regular season finale. Zachary McAllister was blown out and he gave up six runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.
Taylor Holiday and Justin Snyder both doubled and scored a run. For Snyder, it capped off a solid season that saw him hit .335 with an OPS well above .900.
Staten Island’s season is winding down but they’re making the best of it with another win. They edged Tri-City 4-3 behind the bat of Braedyn Pruitt, who homered and drove in three of the Yankees four runs. Taylor Holiday also had a nice game and he went two for three with a walk and a run.
Jonathan Ortiz picked up the win and he improved to 5-0. He gave up two walks with a strikeout in 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
Staten Island played two games today and it was an odd split as both team’s picked up a shutout win. Staten Island lost the first game 3-0 and they were held to just three hits. Taylor Holiday had two of the three hits while Jason Stephens fell to 4-1 with a nice start. He gave up just one unearned run on four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in five innings.
Staten Island won 6-0 in game two. Craig Heyer continued his nice season with five shutout frames. He gave up three hits and four walks with two strikeouts in five shutout innings. David Williams went three for three with a double, an RBI and a run. Justin Snyder went four for four with two doubles and three runs.
Adam Olbrychowski improved to 2-5 on the season in the Yankees 8-3 win over Hudson Valley. He gave up two runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts in six solid frames.
Jose Gil doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored once. Taylor Holiday went three for four with a walk and two runs.
Staten Island blew out Vermont and they did it by scoring nine runs in the fourth inning in a 13-2 win. Taylor Holiday led the way at the plate and he went three for six with a homerun, four RBIs and two runs. Justin Snyder went one for three with three walks, two runs and two RBIs.
Ryan Pope picked up the win with a nice start. He gave up two runs on seven hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in six innings.
Jason Stephens improved to 2-0 on the season in a fantastic start in the Yankees 3-0 win over Jamestown. He gave up two hits and he struck out six in six shutout innings.
Damon Sublett scored and drove in a run without getting a hit. Taylor Holiday doubled, drew two walks and scored a run in the win.
Adam Olbrychwski fell to 0-4 on the season with a rough start in Staten Island’s 6-3 loss against Williamsport. He gave up five runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
Damon Sublet went one for two with two RBIs. Taylor Holiday went one for one with two walks and a run.
Staten Island lost a tough one to Tri-City in a 10-5 blowout. What’s funny is, Nicholas Chigges was the most effective of the three pitchers thrown out there, unfortunately, the one run he gave up gave Tri-City the lead so he fell to 2-4 with the loss. He gave up the one run on four hits with four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.
Taylor Holiday went three for five with a double, a homerun and two runs scored. Damon Sublett went two for four with two RBIs and a run.
Staten Island took care of Hudson Valley 7-5 and it was Ryan Zink who threw of the bulk of the innings for the team. He gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits with four strikeouts in five innings.
Taylor Holiday singled and drove in two runs. Damon Sublett belted a two run homer in the fifth inning which was his second homer of the season.
