Juan Miranda was very productive at the plate. He had only one hit but it was a double and he walked three times with two RBIs and three runs. Colin Curtis went three for five with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
The Yankees blasted Brevard County 15-6 and just about everyone was a hitting star. Every Tampa starter had a hit and all but one had at least two. Every Tampa hitter scored at least one run and all but one drove in a run. Reegie Corona led the way though and he followed up his three run game yesterday with a four RBI game in this one. He went two for six with a homerun, two runs and the four RBIs. Tim Battle also had a nice game and he went one for five with a triple, two runs and two RBIs.
Daniel McCutchen improved to 5-0 on the season with a mediocre start. He gave up six runs on thirteen hits with three strikeouts in eight innings of work.
Ian Kennedy got it done again and he improved to 6-1 with seven shutout innings. He gave up just two hits and a walk and he struck out eight. It might be time to push Kennedy up to Trenton because he’s proved about all he can at the High Class A level. His only loss was his very first start and he’s struck out 64 in 58 innings and he sports a 1.29 ERA.
Jose Tabata was the hitting star in the win. He went three for four with two runs and two RBIs.
Tamps lost to Lakeland 9-2 in a game where the hitters were definitely held in check. Kevin Russo tripled home both of the Yankees runs and Colin Curtis was the only Tampa hitter with two hits.
Eric Hacker was hit hard and he dropped to 1-3 with a rough start. He gave up five runs on eight hits and two walks in just 1 1/3 innings.

Joba Chamberlain had a very nice start. He gave up two hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in eight shutout innings.
Daniel McCutchen gave up one unearned on seven hits and a walk in seven innings of work, but unfortunately, that was just enough to send this game into extra frames. Then in the bottom of the fourteenth, Jacinto Gonell gave up a walk off homer in the bottom of the fourteenth as Tampa walked away with a 2-1 loss.
Juan Miranda drove in the only run of the game for the Yankees. He had the only extra base hit of the game with a triple and Colin Curtis went three for six in the loss.
Ian Kennedy had a nice start in Tampa’s 5-2 win over Vero Beach. He gave up two runs on five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in five solid innings. He didn’t get the decision though because when he left the game, the Yankees were tied 2-2. Jose Valdez threw three shutout innings and he struck out six as he improved to 2-0.
Colin Curtis hit a two run homer in the eighth inning that was a big difference in the win. Reegie Corona went two for four and he scored a run.
Tampa jumped out to a 9-2 lead but the bullpen faltered. Fortunately, the closest Vero Beach got was 9-8 and the Yankees still walked away with the win. Juan Miranda had a monster day at the plate. He went three for four with a double, two homeruns, four RBIs and two runs. Jose Tabata went four for five and he scored twice.
Kei Igawa picked up the win. He gave up two runs on four hits and one walk with four strikeouts in five innings of work.

Daniel McCutchen picked up the win and he improved to 4-0 on the season. He gave up three runs on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Ian Kennedy once again got it done in another fantastic start. He gave up five hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in seven shutout innings and the win improves his record to 5-1. He’s struck out 20 batters in his last two starts to bring his season total up to 56 in 51. I think it’s about time we find out what Kennedy can do in Trenton although I wouldn’t blame the organization if they held off until things warmed up.
Jose Tabata was the hitting star. He went two for four with an RBI in the 2-0 win.
Kei Igawa took the loss in Tampa’s blowout loss to Fort Myers but his start wasn’t all that bad. He gave up two unearned runs on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts in four innings of work.
Edwar Gonzalez had a nice game at the plate. He went two for five with a double and an RBI in the 8-3 loss.
Roger Clemens starting for the Yankees was the big news of the day an he didn’t disappoint. He gave up just one run on three hits with two strikeouts in four solid innings. Bryan Villalona picked up the win with five shutout innings in which he gave up just two hits and two walks.
Reggie Corona pretty much was the offense in the 2-1 win. He hit a two run homerun in the third that put Tampa up for good.
Tampa pitching gave up four runs in the ninth inning in their 8-5 loss to Fort Myers. All three Tampa pitchers gave up at least a couple of runs although Wilkin Arias struck out eight in 3 1/3 innings.
Tim Battle had a nice game at the plate. He went two for four with a walk and he scored three runs.

Daniel McCutchen had a really nice start and he improved to 3-0 on the season. He gave up two runs on seven hits and he struck out seven in seven innings.
Ian Kennedy had another nice start and the win pushed his record to 4-1. He gave up two hits and three walks with eleven strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. The eleven strikeouts is a season high and Kennedy now has 47 strikeouts in 44 innings.
Francisco Cervalli provided most of the offense in the 6-1 win. He drove in five with a grand slam and a sac. fly while Edwar Gonzalez went two for five with two runs.
Four hits usually won’t cut it and it’s especially disappointing when you can’t even score a run. And that’s what happened in the Yankees 8-0 loss to Dunedin. There were no extra base hits and the only hitter to reach base twice was Francisco Cervelli, who walked and singled.
Eric Hacker had a tough time in his start and he dropped to 1-2 on the season. He gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts in three innings of work.
