George Kontos improved to 1-2 on the season with a nice start in Tampa’s 2-1 win over Vero Beach. He gave up one run on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Wilkin Arias improved to 4-1 on the season with a1 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief in Tampa’s 3-2 win over Vero Beach. He gave up one hit and he struck out one in the win. Phil Coke had a pretty good start and he gave up two runs on five hits with two strikeouts in six innings.
Austin Jackson was the hitting star in the win. He went three for five with a double, a run and an RBI.
Bryan Villanola improved to 3-4 on the season with four shutout innings or relief in Tampa’s 8-0 win over Vero Beach. He gave up two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
Austin Jackson had the big hit of the game. He belted a three run homer in the fifth inning. Russell Raley went one for three with two RBIs and a run.
Tampa’s bats were pretty quiet in their 4-2 loss to Daytona. Austin Jackson was the only Tampa hitter with two hits and he had one of the team’s two doubles.
Anthony Claggett dropped to 1-6 with the loss. He gave up three runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts in five innings.
Daniel McCutchen continued his solid season with a nice start and he improved to 8-1 in Tampa’s 6-3 win. He gave up two runs on eight hits with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Edwar Gonzalez was the hitting star in the win. He gave went three for five with a homerun and three RBIs.
Jose Tabata singled home Reegie Corona in the top of the eleventh inning as Tampa got just enough to beat Daytona 7-6 in eleven innings. Austin Jackson helped out a ton with a great day at the plate. He went three for five with a walk and three runs.
Joshua Schmidt picked up the win with 3 1/3 innings of shutout relief. He gave up a hit and he struck out four.
Tampa came back from a 5-2 deficit to beat Lakeland 7-6. Jose Tabata had just one hit but the drove in three runs while Reegie Corona went three for four with two runs.
Anthony Claggett picked up his first win for Tampa and he improved to 1-5 on the season. He gave up five runs on nine hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in five innings.
Daniel McCutchen improved to 7-1 on the season with an outstanding start in Tampa’s 4-0 win over Fort Myers. He gave up just two hits and a walk and he struck out three in seven shutout innings.
Kevin Russo was the hitting star in the win. He went three for five with a double, two RBIs and two runs.
Tampa hitters couldn’t push a single base runner across the plate in their 2-0 loss to Fort Myers. Jose Tabata was the only Yankee with two hits and he went two for four.
Jose Valdez took the loss and he fell to 3-1 on the season. He gave up both runs and he struck out five in 2 2/3 relief innings.
Colin Curtis scored on Edwar Gonzalez’s ground out in the bottom of the tenth as Tampa edged Dunedin 6-5. The win was particularly nice because Tampa came back from a 5-2 deficit.
Kevin Wheelan made a rare start that didn’t go well. I’m not sure why he was demoted but it might have been to work on his control. For Trenton, he had walked 25 in 31 innings (although he struck out 40). Also could have been that he was the odd man out with Ian Kennedy and Joba Chamberlain getting promotions.
Marcos Vechionacci was the hitting star in the win. He went four for five with three doubles, a triple, an RBI and two runs.
Daniel McCutchen had his second straight rough start and he picked up his first loss of the season in a 9-1 loss to Palm Beach. He gave up six runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts in five innings.

Tampa got pretty much no offense in a 2-0 loss to Palm Beach. Two singles isn’t going to cut it and James Cooper was the only Yankee to reach base twice with two walks.

Eric Hacker improved to 2-3 on the season with a nice start in Tampa’s 3-2 win over Brevard County. He gave up two runs on five hits with three strikeouts in six solid innings.
Juan Miranda went two for four with a double and an RBI. Jared Greenwood hit a solo homerun.
Jose Tabata singled home Reegie Corona in the bottom of the eleventh to win it for Tampa in their 7-6 win over Brevard County. He finished game with two hits and he drove in two runs. James Cooper also had a nice game and he went four for five with a homerun and two runs.
