Kevin Thompson was one of the hitting stars in SWB’s 5-2 win over Ottawa. He went four for five with an RBI and two stolen bases. Wil Nieves went three for five with a run and an RBI.
Ross Ohlendorf picked up the win with three solid innings of relief. He improved to 3-3 and he gave up one run on two hits with a strikeout.
The Yankees managed only one run on six hits in a tough loss to the Rochester Red Wings. Eric Duncan and Juan Francia had the only extra base hits for the Yankees. Each had doubled and Duncan scored the lone run while Francia had the lone RBI.
Matt DeSalvo took the loss and he fell to 6-4 on the season. He gave up three runs on four hits and four walks with five strikeouts in five innings of work.
SWB lost 3-2 to Rocherster but the big league Yankees have to be pleased because Joba Chamberlain made his bullpen debut and was nothing short of fantastic. Three batters, three strikeouts. The Yankees may have just found their bullpen help without even pulling the trigger on a trade. In the meantime, Steven White fell to 3-3 despite a decent start. He gave up three runs on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings of work.
Justin Christian was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for four with a triple, an RBI and a run.
Philip Hughes continues to his impress in his rehab stint and he improved to 4-1 for SWB. He gave up just three hits and three walks with four strikeouts in 6 2/3 shutout innings in the 3-0 win. As an aside, the Yankees are going to put Joba Chamberlain in the pen because the big league club appears to be pretty dissatisfied with Kyle Farnsworth so his time at SWB could be coming to an end pretty soon.
Angel Chavez went one for three with two RBIs. Justin Christian went two for three with a walk and a run in the loss.
Like Joba Chamberlain, Ian Kennedy transitioned nicely and threw six shutout innings in his debut for SWB. He gave up two hits and two walks with six strikeouts. It wasn’t good enough though because the pen gave up three runs and the hitters were shutout in a 3-0 loss.
SWB hitters reached base just five times with three singles and two walks. Erubiel Durazo and Kevin Reese both singled and drew walks.
Most of this game was an interesting 1-1 pitchers duel that went through ten innings. Then in the eleventh, the Bats exploded for five runs to open the game up in what turned out to be a 6-1 loss. Jeff Karstens threw six shutout innings but that was essentially wasted when Charlie Manning was tagged for five runs in the eleventh.

Matt DeSalvo dropped to 6-3 on the season with a tough start in the Yankees 13-7 loss to the Bats. He gave up seven runs (six hits) on eight hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

Joba Chamberlain picked up the win his first Triple A start with a very impressive outing. It’s hard to believe this kid was in High A Tampa just a couple of months ago but he threw five shutout innings and struck out ten in the win.
Chris Basak went two for four with a double and two runs. Brett Gardner reached base four times with two singles, two walks and he scored a run.

He gave up just two hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in six shutout innings and with the promotion of Joba Chamberlain and Ian Kennedy to Triple A, SWB now has most of the top flight pitching prospects in the organization.

Jeff Karstens improved to 1-0 on the season for SWB since joining the team in their 7-2 win over Charlotte. He gave up just one run on three hits and a walk with six strikeouts in six innings of work.
Kevin Reese pretty much was the Yankees offense. He went two for three with a grand slam and five RBIs. Brett Gardner went two for five with two runs.
Tyler Clippard fell to 4-4 on the season with a rough start in the Yankees 5-1 loss to Charlotte. He gave up three runs on nine hits and one walk with two strikeouts in five innings of work.
The Yankees managed just four hits and Andy Cannizaro was the only SWB hitter to reach base more then once. He went one for two with a double and two walks.
Shelly Duncan scored on a sac. fly in the top of the ninth inning by Andy Cannizaro to give the Yankees the go ahead run in their 7-6 win over Indianapolis. Shelly Duncan was the hitting star in the win though. He went two for three with a walk, a homerun, three RBIs and two runs. Eric Duncan chipped in with a homerun and two RBIs.
Ben Kozlowski picked up the win and he improved 3-6 on the season. He struck out three in two shutout innings.
The Yankees went into the ninth inning down by a run and pushed two across the plate to win it. Andy Cannizaro drove in the tying run while Eric Duncan doubled home the winning run for the 3-2 win. Erubiel Durazao scored two runs since the Yankees picked him up and Cannizaro finished the game with three hits and two RBIs.
A pretty good start by Steven White almost went to waste. He gave up two runs on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts in six innings of work. Sean Henn picked up the win with two shutout innings.
Shelly Duncan had a big day at the plate in the Yankees 8-5 win over Indianapolis. He went three for four with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs. Justin Christian also made a big contribution and he went two for five with a homerun, two runs and two RBIs.
Tyler Clippard had a tough time and he gave up four runs in 4 1/3 innings but the pen and hitters picked him up. Chris Britton picked up the win and he improved to 3-1. He gave up a hit and a walk in 1 2/3 shutout innings.
The Yankees four game winning streak came to an end with a poor performance at the plate in their 3-1 loss to the Bats. The Yankees managed just five singles and one walk and Kevin Reese was the only hitter to reach base twice with a single and a walk.

SWB has put together an impressive winning streak and this time it was Ross Ohlendorf who picked up the win with a decent outing. He gave up three runs on eight hits and one walk with three strikeouts in five innings. The win pushed his record to 2-3 on the season.

Steven White didn’t pick up the decision in this game but he was impressive none the less. He gave up just two runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts in seven innings. Charlie Manning picked up the win with 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief and he improved to 2-1 on the season.
Shelly Duncan doubled and drove in two runs in the 5-2 ten inning win. Justin Christian went two for four with a walks, an RBI and two runs.
The SWB Yankees beat up on the major league ready Homer Bailey in an impressive 8-6 win. Shelly Duncan hit two solo homeruns to bring his season total up to 23 while Justin Christian went three for five with a triple and three RBIs.
Chase Wright picked up the win even without his best stuff. He improved to 7-3 and he gave up four runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings.
SWB had plenty of hitting star in their 12-1 win over Ottawa but Justin Christian was a notch above everyone. He went four for six with two triples, four RBIs and three runs. Kevin Reese also produced and he went three for five with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
Lost in all of the offense was a solid start by Steven White. He gave up one unearned run on six hits with three strikeouts in eight innings of work.
