Staten Island was gone from the playoffs after just two games as they were held in check by the Cyclones. A pretty solid start by Darrell Rasner went to waste. He gave up two runs on two hits and one walk with three strikeouts in five innings.
Donald Hollingsworth went two for three and he drove in the only Yankees run in the 3-1 loss. Taylor Holiday went two for four with a double.
Staten Island dropped their first game of a three game series with an 8-4 loss to Brooklyn. Ryan Zink took the loss although he had some help because three of the four pitchers used gave up runs.
Matt Morris homered and drove in two runs. Justin Snyder went two for four with a walk.
Staten Island must have been looking forward at their playoff series with the Cyclones as they were blown out 11-2 in their regular season finale. Zachary McAllister was blown out and he gave up six runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.
Taylor Holiday and Justin Snyder both doubled and scored a run. For Snyder, it capped off a solid season that saw him hit .335 with an OPS well above .900.
Staten Island’s season is winding down but they’re making the best of it with another win. They edged Tri-City 4-3 behind the bat of Braedyn Pruitt, who homered and drove in three of the Yankees four runs. Taylor Holiday also had a nice game and he went two for three with a walk and a run.
Jonathan Ortiz picked up the win and he improved to 5-0. He gave up two walks with a strikeout in 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
Staten Island scored five runs in the seventh and four in the eighth to push them to a blowout win over Tri-City. Jose Gil belted a homer and drove in five runs while Austin Krum went three for four with a double, three RBIs and two runs.
Adam Olbrychowski improved to 3-5 with the win. He gave up two runs on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
Staten Island scored a run in the eighth and a run in the ninth to come back and beat Brooklyn 5-4. The game winner was an RBI single by Jose Gil with two outs while Christopher Raber belted a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth to tie it. Raber finished the gave with two hits, two walks and he scored three times.
Darrell Rasner gave up two runs in four innings in his start. Jonathan Ortiz gave up five baserunners in 1 2/3 innings but none of them crossed the plate and he picked up his fourth win of the season.
Staten Island finished had a tough time getting anything going at the plate in a 5-0 loss to Brooklyn. Four different hitters picked up base hits with Austin Krum having the only extra base hit with a double.
Zachary McAlliser fell to 4-5 with the loss. He gave up four runs on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Staten Island played two games today and it was an odd split as both team’s picked up a shutout win. Staten Island lost the first game 3-0 and they were held to just three hits. Taylor Holiday had two of the three hits while Jason Stephens fell to 4-1 with a nice start. He gave up just one unearned run on four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in five innings.
Staten Island won 6-0 in game two. Craig Heyer continued his nice season with five shutout frames. He gave up three hits and four walks with two strikeouts in five shutout innings. David Williams went three for three with a double, an RBI and a run. Justin Snyder went four for four with two doubles and three runs.
Ryan Pope improved to 3-0 on the season with a nice start in the Yankees 4-2 win over Brooklyn. He gave up two runs on six hits and one walk with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Austin Krum went three for five with a double and two RBIs. Braedyn Pruitt went two for five with an RBI and a run.
