Ian Kennedy picked up the win in his first Double A start although it was more because of the run support then anything. He gave up four runs on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts in five innings. The toughest jump is from High A to Double A so some growing pains should be expected and while the ERA looks a bit bloated, this was a decent enough start from someone making his Double A debut. I’m looking forward to seeing how he does at this advanced level the rest of the season.
Shawn Garrett had a huge day at the plate. He went three for five with two doubles, a homerun, five RBIs and two runs. Carlos Mendoza went two for two with a double, three RBIs and a run.
One run on four hits was all the Thunder could manage in a 4-1 loss to Akron. Shawn Garrett had two of those hits in a two for four game with a double and he scored the only run for the Thunder.
Jason Jones had a decent enough start but he took the loss. He gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts in six innings. The loss drops him to 3-4 on the season.
The Thunder beat Akron 8-7 as they continued to pad their division lead (which is now six games). Justin Christian had a nice day at the plate. He went three for four with two doubles, a triple, two RBIs and a run. Shawn Garrett and Matt Carson each went two for three with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
Jeff Kenard picked up the win with two shutout innings of relief. He gave up two hits and struck out three and the win improved his record to 1-3 on the season.
Trenton got some great pitching in a 1-0 eleven inning win over the Defenders. Tim Lavigne threw five shutout innings in his start and Gerardo Casadiego threw two shutout innings to close the game out and he picked up the win.
The lone run of the game came on an RBI singled by Shawn Garrett. He drove home Jamal Strong for the game winner.
Trenton lost a tough one 3-2 and while the pitching was there, the hitting wasn’t. Aaron Baldiris hit a solo homerun and Shawn Garrett went two for five with an RBI.
Jason Jones took the loss. He gave up three runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings of work.
Brett Smith was awesome in his fourth win of the season as Trenton beat Portland 6-0. He gave up just a single hit and two walks with ten strikeouts in eight innings of work.
Shawn Garrett went two for four with a double, a triple and two runs. Aarom Baldiris went two for four with a double, an RBI and a run.
Jeffrey Marquez picked up his fifth win of the season with a nice outing over Erie. He gave up two runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings.
Shawn Garrett had the big hit of the game. He tripled home two runs in the first and then he later scored in the inning as well.

Chase Wright picked up the win and he improved to 2-0. He gave up two runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts in six innings.
The Thunder beat up on Harrisburg 8-2 and Jason Jones got it done on the mound. He gave up a single run on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings and the win improved his record to 2-0.

Alan Horne threw six solid innings and he improved to 3-0 on the season. He gave up one run on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
Shawn Garrett was the hitting star in the 2-1 win. He went two for three with a double and a run.
Brett Smith had a fantastic start today in the Thunder’s 7-4 win over Binghamton. He gave up just four walks in seven no hit innings and he struck out seven.
Ramiro Pena singled twice and scored two runs. Aarom Baldiris and Shawn Garrett each doubled, drove in two and scored a run.
