SWB is now one loss away from being eliminated from their run for the Governor’s Cup after a 6-4 loss. The Yankees led most of this game but then Sean Henn was tagged for four runs in the eighth inning. It’s too bad because a nice start by Matt DeSalvo went to waste. He gave up two runs on five hits and and three walks with five strikeouts in seven innings.
Andy Cannizaro and Raul Chavez each hit solo homers in the loss. Angel Chavez went two for four with a run and an RBI.
Matt DeSalvo gave up five runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts in six innings in a no-decision. Sean Henn toook the loss though and he fell to 1-3. He gave up two runs in 1 1/3 innings.
Kevin Reese went two for three with a run and an RBI. Alberto Gonzalez went two for four with a double, a run and an RBI.
The Yankees went into the ninth inning down by a run and pushed two across the plate to win it. Andy Cannizaro drove in the tying run while Eric Duncan doubled home the winning run for the 3-2 win. Erubiel Durazao scored two runs since the Yankees picked him up and Cannizaro finished the game with three hits and two RBIs.
A pretty good start by Steven White almost went to waste. He gave up two runs on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts in six innings of work. Sean Henn picked up the win with two shutout innings.
The Yankees lost another. This time it was a 7-4 loss to Rochester that saw the opposition scored all seven of their runs from the sixth inning on. Sean Henn did his job and he threw five shutout innings before they pen imploded. Ben Kozlowski took the loss and he gave up four runs (just one earned) on three hits and a walk with one strikeout in 1 1/3 innings.
Jamal Strong was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for five with two triples and two runs. Shelly Duncan hit a solo homerun and that was his fourteenth long ball of the year.
The Yankees’ offense couldn’t get it going in their 6-2 loss to Indianapolis. Kevin Thompson was the hitting star in the loss. He hit a solo homerun and he scored both runs for the Yankees.
Sean Henn took the loss and he dropped to 0-2. He gave up two runs on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
The Yankees lost to Norfolk today 2-0 and the offense picked up just three hits in the loss. Andy Phillips picked up the only hit with a walk and Kevin Reese reached base twice with a single and a walk.
Tyler Clippard left the game after only one inning. Not sure if it was because of a rain delay or an injury but I’ll let you know when I find out. He was relieved by Sean Henn, who gave up two runs and took the loss.
