Adam Warren improved to 1-1 on the season with a solid start in the Yankees 7-2 win over Lowell. He gave up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in five shutout innings. Philip Bartleski struck out five and he didn’t allow a hit in two shutout innings of relief.
Kelvin Castro went two for three with a double, a triple, a walk, two RBIs and two runs. Zoilo Almonte went one for three with a two run home run, a walk and two runs.
Starter Angel Reyes had a tough time finding the plate in Staten Island’s 4-3 loss to Aberdeen. He gave up just one hit but he walked six and gave up three runs in only 1 1/3 of an inning. The offense actually picked him up in this one so he didn’t take the loss. That went to Philip Bartleski, who gave up the go ahead run in the ninth. He did strike out five in 2 2/3 innings though.
Luis Nunez walked and he scored two runs in the loss. Donald Hollingsworth went two for three.
