Craig Heyer gave up a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth but Jonathan Ortiz came in to get the final batter out as the RiverDogs slipped by the Sand Gnats 6-5. Noel Castillo picked up the win and he improved to 2-0. He gave up three runs on six hits with three strikeouts in seven innings.
Justin Snyder was the hitting star in the win. He went two for three with a double, a triple, two walks, an RBI and two runs.
The RiverDogs walked away with two wins tonight, the first a tight game and the second a blowout. Game one was 5-4 and while Jairo Heredia wasn’t exceptional, he put together four decent innings in which he struck out an impressive seven batters. Brad Suttle was the only hitter with two hits and he drove in a run.
The second game was a 13-0 beatdown. There were plenty of hitting stars but David Williams was a notch above the rest. He went four for five with a double, three RBIs and a run. Noel Castillo had an exceptional start but he fell a batter short of picking up the win. He gave up three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
Noel Castillo fell to 5-3 on the season with a tough start in the GCL Yankees 7-2 loss to the GCL Indians. He gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits with five strikeouts in five innings.
Jesus Montero had a solid day at the plate. He went two for four with a double and a run.

Zoilo Almonte was the hitting star in the win. He went two for four with a double and a run.
After a couple of rain outs, the GCL Yankees played two and took two as they swept a doubleheader over the GCL Indians. The first game was an impressive offensive display in a 10-3 win. Gary Gattis went two for three with two RBIs and two runs while Kelvin Castro went two for three with an RBI and two runs. Francisco Castillo picked up the win with two shutout innings of relief.
Noel Castillo improved to 4-2 with a nice start in game two. He gave up three hits and he struck out two in five shutout innings in the 5-0 win.

Prilys Cuello went two for five with a double and two RBIs. Abraham Almonte tripled, drove in a run and scored twice.
Noel Castillo had a mixed relief appearance. He did take the loss and he dropped to 2-2 but two of the four runs he gave up were unearned. And to his credit, he struck out an impressive six batters in just 3 2/3 innings.
Both Yankee runs came on solo homeruns in the 6-2 loss. Jesus Montero and Ben Blumenthal both hit one over the fence with nobody on base.

Ryan Wehrle doubled and drove in a run. Ben Blumenthal had the only other extra base hit with a triple.
The GCL Yankees lost their opener 2-1 but it wasn’t because their pitchers didn’t step up. Noel Castillo gave up just one run on four hits with six strikeouts in four innings in his start, and despite taking the loss, Jairo Heredia gave up a run in 3 2/3 and he struck out five.
The offense managed just five hits in the game. Ryan Wehrle had two of those and Prilys Cuello went one of three with a walk and an RBI.
