Damon Sublett was one of the hitting stars as Staten Island took care of Hudson Valley 8-3 for their sixth straight win. He went three for four with a double, a homerun, two RBIs and three runs. Austin Krum went three for four with a double, a triple, an RBI and two runs.
Nicholas Chigges pitched the bulk of the innings and he improved to 3-4. He gave up one run on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in five innings of relief.
Staten Island lost a tough one to Tri-City in a 10-5 blowout. What’s funny is, Nicholas Chigges was the most effective of the three pitchers thrown out there, unfortunately, the one run he gave up gave Tri-City the lead so he fell to 2-4 with the loss. He gave up the one run on four hits with four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.
Taylor Holiday went three for five with a double, a homerun and two runs scored. Damon Sublett went two for four with two RBIs and a run.
Staten Island took care of Vermont 4-2 and Nicholas Chigges picked up the win. He gave up two runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts in four innings of relief. The win pushed his record to 2-3 on the season.
Austin Krum went two for three with a walk and a run. Luis Nunez went one for four with a double, a run and an RBI.
Staten Island and Hudson Valley didn’t get to play a full game but the game was called after innings and Staten Island lost 2-1. Nicholas Chigges dropped to 1-1 and he gave up two runs on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
The Yankees picked up just four hits and they didn’t draw a single walk. There wasn’t a single extra base hit either.
Staten Island lost to Brooklyn 5-1 in both team’s season opener. Gabriel Medina gave up just one hit with six strikeouts in five shutout innings while Nicholas Chigges gave up three runs in two innings and he took the loss.
Braedyn Pruitt had three hits in the loss. Justin Snyder tripled and he scored the only run for the Yankees.
