Staten Island took a 5-4 lead into the ninth inning but walked away with a 6-5 loss. Ronny Marte gave up the two ninth inning runs and he fell to 2-1. Francisco Rondon struck out eight in four innings in his start.
Neil Medchill went two for two with a home run, two RBIs and two runs. Kyle Higashioka went two for four with a run.
Staten Island couldn’t score a run and they still haven’t won a game in a 2-0 loss to Aberdeen. All five hits were singles and Kyle Higashioka was the lone hitter to reach base twice with a hit and a walk.
A pretty good start by Francisco Rondon went to waste. He gave up one run on two hits and three walks with four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Staten Island lost their season opener last night in a 6-2 loss to Brooklyn. Three errors led to four unearned runs in the contest and despite a solid start, Arodys Vizcaino took the loss and fell to 0-1. He gave up four runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
Kyle Higashioka went two for four in the loss. Francisco Santana went two for five.
