Adam Warren Throws Five Shutout Innings In Staten Island Win

Adam Warren improved to 1-1 on the season with a solid start in the Yankees 7-2 win over Lowell.  He gave up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in five shutout innings.  Philip Bartleski struck out five and he didn’t allow a hit in two shutout innings of relief.

Kelvin Castro went two for three with a double, a triple, a walk, two RBIs and two runs.  Zoilo Almonte went one for three with a two run home run, a walk and two runs.

Staten Island Loses Rain Shortened Game to Cyclones

Staten Island got their game in today, unfortunately they didn’t play enough innings to give them their first win.  Their two runs came on back to back home runs by Neil Medchill and Kelvin Castro.

Kelvin Perez took the loss and he fell to 0-1.  He gave up five runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks with a strikeout in just two innings.

Wady Rufino Scores Three Runs In GCL Yankees Win

Wady Rufino was one of the hitting stars in the GCL Yankees 8-3 win over the GCL Indians.  He went three for four with a double, a triple and three runs.  Kelvin Castro went three for three with a double, a run and an RBI.

Michael Hyde improved to 2-0 with the win.  He gave up two hits and he struck out two in three shutout innings of relief.

GCL Yankees Sweep Doubleheader Over GCL Indians

After a couple of rain outs, the GCL Yankees played two and took two as they swept a doubleheader over the GCL Indians.  The first game was an impressive offensive display in a 10-3 win.  Gary Gattis went two for three with two RBIs and two runs while Kelvin Castro went two for three with an RBI and two runs.  Francisco Castillo picked up the win with two shutout innings of relief.

Noel Castillo improved to 4-2 with a nice start in game two.  He gave up three hits and he struck out two in five shutout innings in the 5-0 win.

Kelvin Castro Drives In Three Runs In GCL Yankees Win

The GCL Yankees poured on the offense in their 10-2 win over the GCL Braves and it was Kelvin Castro who was the hitting star. He went three for five with two triples, three RBIs and two runs.  Prilys Cuello also had a nice game and he went two for six with a double, and RBI and two runs.

Jairo Heredia improved to 2-1 with five solid innings of relief.  He gave up one run on three hits with five strikeouts.

Kelvin Perez Is Hit Hard In GCL Yankees Loss

Kelvin Perez fell to 4-2 on the season with a tough start in the GCL Yankees 10-6 loss to the GCL Indians.  He gave up five runs on six its and two walks with three strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.

Kelvin Castro went two for four with a double, three RBIs and a run.  Zoilo Almonte went three for five.

GCL Yankes Shutout GCL Tigers 5-0

Two GCL Yankees’ pitchers combined to shutout the GCL Tigers and they held them to three hits in their 5-0 win.  Timothy Dennehy gave up just two hits in five innings and Manuel Barreda gave up just one hit in four innings and he improved to 1-0 on the season.

Kelvin Castro was the hitting star in the win.  He went three for four with two doubles and one run.

Daniel Gil Throws Three Perfect Innings In GCL Yankees Win

The GCL got some solid pitching from four different pitchers but it was Daniel Gil who was the most impressive and who also picked up the win.  He didn’t give up a single baserunner in three innings and he struck out two.

Prilys Cuello belted a two run homer in the 8-2 win.  Kelvin Castro went two for five and he scored two runs.
