Kevin Mahoney was the hitting star for the GCL Yankees in their 3-1 win over the GCL Tigers. He went two for four with two doubles, two RBIs and a run. Kelvin De Leon also pitched in with a pair of singles and an RBI.
Michael O’Brien had a solid start and he gave up a run on two hits with four strikeouts in four innings. Dan Miller pitched two shutout innings and he improved to 1-0 while Julian Arballo pitched a shutout ninth to earn his fourth save.
The GCL Yankees took care of business despite having a few days off. In game one, Matthew Richardson threw five shutout innings to improve to 2-0 on the season. He gave up three hits and he struck out five. Mitchell Delaney went two for three with a two run homer and Jose Toussen went two for four with a double in the 6-1 win.
In game two, the Yankees needed eleven ining but they finally got it done in the tenth. Justin Milo went one for four with a two run home run and two runs. Toussen walked three times and he belted a solo homer. Gabriel Tatis gave up a run in four innings of relief and he improved to 1-0 while Julian Arballo struck out two in a shutout tenth to pick up save number two.
