Man, what a tough game to take. The Yankees took a 3-1 lead into the ninth only to see Jeff Karstens nice start go to waste. Ben Kozlowski and Ross Ohlendorf combined to give up three runs in the top of the ninth to turn that two run lead into a one run loss. With the loss, the SWB Yankees came to an end.
Jose Cruz, Jr. went two for four with a two run homer in the loss. Bronson Sardinha doubled twice and he scored a run.
SWB held off a tenth inning rally by Richmond to even up their series at a game a piece in a 6-4 win. Jose Cruz, Jr. made a contribution with a single, a double and a run while Juan Francia doubled, drove in a run and scored.
Kei Igawa had a decent start and he gave up just two runs in five innings. Ben Kozlowski picked up the win despite getting into trouble in the tenth inning and it was T.J. Beam who pitched the Yankees out of the tenth to pick up the save.
SWB had plenty of hitting stars in their 11-2 win over Ottawa but Jose Cruz, Jr. was a notch above the rest. He went four for five with three doubles, two RBIs and two runs. Angel Chavez went two for four with a double, two RBIs and three runs.
Lost in all of the offense was a very nice start by Matt DeSalvo. He gave up one run on seven hits and three walks with nine strikeouts in eight frames.
