The Thunder didn’t bring much to the plate as they were held to just five hits in a 3-1 loss to New Britain. Jorge Vazquez singled twice and Reegie Corona singled, drew a walk and drove in the lone Thunder run.
Zach McAllister had a decent start go to waste. He fell to 5-4 and he gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks with six strikeouts in six innings.
Jason Johnson had a really tough time and he fell to 0-2 on the season with a rough start in the Thunder’s 9-6 loss to Erie. He gave up eight runs on eleven hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
Jorge Vazquez had a big day at the plate. He went four for five with a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs. Jesus Montero went two for four with a solo home run.
Trenton finished up their suspended game against Reading and Jorge Vazquez didn’t miss a beat with the delay. He finished the game four for four with a double, a home run, three RBIs, and two runs. Eduardo Nunez went two for four with a double, two RBIs and two runs.
Zach McAllister pitched two shutout innings in his start before the bad weather cut the game short. Josh Schmidt took over today and he improved to 6-1. He gave up two runs on three hits and one walk with three strikeouts in four innings.
The Thunder took two today as they made up one of their games and played their regularly scheduled one. Game one was a 9-3 blowout. Jorge Vazquez went three for four with a three run homer while Eduardo Nunez went two for four with two runs and two RBIs. Jason Stephens improved to 1-0 and he gave up three runs on six hits and two walks in six innings.
Game two provided some solid pitching in a 3-0 shutout win. Four pitchers combined for the seven inning shutout and it was Kevin Whelan who picked up the win. He gave up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in two innings of shutout relief and the win pushed his record to 3-0 on the season. Noah Hall was the hitting star and he went two for three with two doubles, two runs and an RBI.
