Jason Johnson Is Hit Hard In Thunder’s Loss to Erie

Jason Johnson had a really tough time and he fell to 0-2 on the season with a rough start in the Thunder’s 9-6 loss to Erie.  He gave up eight runs on eleven hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.

Jorge Vazquez had a big day at the plate.  He went four for five with a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs.  Jesus Montero went two for four with a solo home run.

Trenton Pitchers Are Hit Hard in Loss to Reading

Three different pitchers gave up at least a pair of runs in Trenton’s 8-3 loss to Reading.  Wilkins Arias took the loss and he fell to 1-2.  He gave up two runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.

Jesus Montero went two for four with a solo homer.  Reegie Corona also went yard with a solo homer and he drew a walk in the loss.

Trenton Held to Four Hits In Loss to Akron

Trenton had a tough time getting anything going in their 5-2 loss to Akron.  Jesus Montero went one for three with a walk and a run and an RBI while Chris Malec went one ofr three with a walk and an RBI.

A really good start by Ivan Nova went to waste in the loss.  He gave up just a hit and two walks with three strikeouts in six shutout innings.  J.B. Cox gave up three runs in 1/3 of an inning and he took the loss.

Tampa Pitchers Hit Hard In Loss to Charlotte

Charlotte didn’t discriminate as they knocked around all three of the pitchers that the Yankees put out on the mound.  It was Charles Nolte who took the loss in the 9-4 loss.  He gave up four runs (three earned) on three hits and a walk in two innings of relief.

Jesus Montero was the hitting star in the loss.  He went two for four and he scored two runs.

Tampa Edges Charlotte 3-2

The Yankees got some very solid pitching this afternoon as they took care of Charlotte 3-2.  Jason Stephens got the start and he gave up just a single run in five innings.  Then Lance Pendleton gave up just a single run in three innings and he picked up the win to improve to 4-3.

Austin Romine went two for four with a double and an RBI.  Jesus Montero singled twice and he drove in one run.

Sergio Mitre Is Hit Hard in Tampa’s Loss to Charlotte

Sergio Mitre was roughed up in his start as the Yankees lost to Charlotte 8-5.  He gave up five runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.

Austin Romine accounted for the bulk of the Yankees offense with a three run blast.  Jesus Montero went three for four with a home run and two runs.

RiverDogs Double Up Sand Gnats 6-3

Jesus Montero led the way for the RiverDogs in their 6-3 win over the Sand Gnats.  He went three for five with a solo homer and two runs.  Carmen Angelini also had a nice game with two singled, one run and one RBI.

Adam Olbrychowski threw five solid innings in his no decision.  He gave up two runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings.  Chase Vacek threw two shutout innings and he improved to 2-0 while Jonathan Ortiz threw a shutout ninth to pick up his sixth win of the season.

Abraham Almonte Drives In Three Runs In RiverDogs Win

Charleston outhit Savannah 8-6 and Abraham Almonte was the hitting star in the win. He went four for five with three RBIs.  Justin Snyder went three for five with two doubles and an RBI while Jesus Montero went two for five with a double, a solo homer and two runs.

Jairo Heredia improved to 1-0 with a good enough start.  He gave up three runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts.  Lance Pendleton gave up two runs in 2 2/3 but he struck out seven batters to bring his season total up to twelve in 4 2/3 innings.

GCL Yankees Win GCL Championship

The GCL Yankees won the third and final game of their best of three game series with GCL Dodgers for the GCL championship.  Timothy Dennehy threw six great frames in the final and he gave up one run on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts in six innings of work.

Abraham Almonte was the hitting star.  He went three for four with a double, two RBIs and three runs.  Jesus Montero went two for five with a double, a homerun and two RBIs.

Jesus Montero Has Three RBIs In GCL Yankees Win

The Yankees got plenty of offense in their 11-8 win over the GCL Indians, and while Jesus Montero had just one hit, he played a role in four of the Yankees runs.  He singled, drove in three runs and scored while Prilys Cuello had a team high three hits with a run and an RBI.

Link Saunders picked up the win with three innings of shutout relief.  He struck out four and gave up just one hit in an impressive outing.

GCL Yankees Edge GCL Tigers 4-3

The GCL Yankees had just one decent inning but it was a big one as they scored all four of their runs in a 4-3 win over the GCL Tigers in the sixth inning.  Jesus Montero was the hitting star in the win.  He went two for four with a homerun and two RBIs.

Francisco Castillo improved to 2-0 with the win.  He gave up one run on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts in three innings of relief.

Noel Castillo Has Rough Start In GCL Yankees Loss

Noel Castillo fell to 5-3 on the season with a tough start in the GCL Yankees 7-2 loss to the GCL Indians.  He gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits with five strikeouts in five innings.

Jesus Montero had a solid day at the plate. He went two for four with a double and a run.

GCL Yankees Held to Six Hits In Loss to GCL Braves

The GCL Yankees had a tough time at the plate and they were held to just two runs in their 6-2 loss to the GCL Braves.  Jesus Montero drove in both runs with a two run shot in the eighth inning and Montero was the only hitter with two hits for the Yanks.

Dickson Marquez fell to 0-2 with a rough start.  He gave up five runs (four earned) on five hits with one strikeout in 4 1/3 innings.

GCL Yankees Win It In Ninth Inning

Jesus Montero singled home Zoilo Almonte in the bottom of the ninth to win it for the GCL Yankees.  Abraham Almonte had a big day at the plate to help out the cause as well.  He went four for five with a solo homerun.

Brandon Thomson improved to 1-0 on the season in the 4-3 win.  He threw a shutout ninth and struck out two to close out the game.

Noel Castillo Strikes Out Six in GCL Yankees Loss

Noel Castillo had a mixed relief appearance.  He did take the loss and he dropped to 2-2 but two of the four runs he gave up were unearned.  And to his credit, he struck out an impressive six batters in just 3 2/3 innings.

Both Yankee runs came on solo homeruns in the 6-2 loss.  Jesus Montero and Ben Blumenthal both hit one over the fence with nobody on base.
