The GCL Yankees lost to the GCL Phillies 3-2 despite the Phillies making four errors in the game. Brandon Laird was one of the hitting stars in the loss and he went three for four while Zoilo Almonte and Wady Rufino both hit solo homers in the loss.
Casey Erickson took the loss and he fell to 2-1. He gave up three runs on four hits and one walk with two strikeouts in five innings.
The GCL Yankees poured on the offense in their 10-2 win over the GCL Braves and it was Kelvin Castro who was the hitting star. He went three for five with two triples, three RBIs and two runs. Prilys Cuello also had a nice game and he went two for six with a double, and RBI and two runs.
Jairo Heredia improved to 2-1 with five solid innings of relief. He gave up one run on three hits with five strikeouts.
The GCL Yankees had a tough time at the plate and they were held to just two runs in their 6-2 loss to the GCL Braves. Jesus Montero drove in both runs with a two run shot in the eighth inning and Montero was the only hitter with two hits for the Yanks.
Dickson Marquez fell to 0-2 with a rough start. He gave up five runs (four earned) on five hits with one strikeout in 4 1/3 innings.
Noel Castillo improved to 3-2 on the season with a nice start in the GCL Yankees 7-3 win over the GCL Tigers. He gave up six hits and one run on one walk with four strikeouts in five innings.
Prilys Cuello went two for five with a double and two RBIs. Abraham Almonte tripled, drove in a run and scored twice.
Timothy Dennehy threw five shutout innings in a nice start in the GCL Yankees 3-2 win over the GCL Tigers. He gave up just three hits and a walk with three strikeouts and the win pushed his record to 4-1 on the season.
Wady Rufino was one of the hitting stars and he went two for four with a two run homer. Brandon Laird went two for four and he scored two runs.
Jacinto Gonell improved to 1-0 on the season in the GCL Yankees 5-2 win over the GCL Blue Jays. He gave up two hits and two walks with six strikeouts in four shutout innings.
Ryan Wehrle doubled, drew two walks and scored two runs. Melky Mesa went two for four with a double, a run and an RBI.
Jesus Montero singled home Zoilo Almonte in the bottom of the ninth to win it for the GCL Yankees. Abraham Almonte had a big day at the plate to help out the cause as well. He went four for five with a solo homerun.
Brandon Thomson improved to 1-0 on the season in the 4-3 win. He threw a shutout ninth and struck out two to close out the game.
Kelvin Perez fell to 4-2 on the season with a tough start in the GCL Yankees 10-6 loss to the GCL Indians. He gave up five runs on six its and two walks with three strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.
Kelvin Castro went two for four with a double, three RBIs and a run. Zoilo Almonte went three for five.
Ben Blumenthal was one of the hitting stars in the GCL Yankees 6-1 win over the GCL Indians. He was a perfect four for four with a double, a run and an RBI. Melky Mesa went two for four with a double and two runs.
Wilkins De La Rosa picked up the win and he improved to 1-0 on the season. He gave up a hit and he struck out four in two shutout innings of relief.
The GCL Yankees took care of the GCL Phillies 7-1 and it was Ryan Wehrle who was the biggest run producer at the plate. He went two for three with a homerun and three RBIs. Andres Perez went three for four with a homerun and two RBIs.

The GCL Yankees picked up two runs in their doubleheader over the GCL Braves. In the first game, Prilys Cuello hit a two run homer and Andres Perez singled three times and drove in a run in a 7-4 win. Matt Foard picked up the win with three innings of shutout relief.
In the second game, the GCL Yankees won a 2-1 pitcher’s duel. Brandon Thomson picked up the win with two shutout innings and Jairo Heredia struck out eight in five solid innings. Abraham Almonte was the hitting star and he went two for three with a run and an RBI.
Noel Castillo had a mixed relief appearance. He did take the loss and he dropped to 2-2 but two of the four runs he gave up were unearned. And to his credit, he struck out an impressive six batters in just 3 2/3 innings.
Both Yankee runs came on solo homeruns in the 6-2 loss. Jesus Montero and Ben Blumenthal both hit one over the fence with nobody on base.
Two GCL Yankees’ pitchers combined to shutout the GCL Tigers and they held them to three hits in their 5-0 win. Timothy Dennehy gave up just two hits in five innings and Manuel Barreda gave up just one hit in four innings and he improved to 1-0 on the season.

Talk about a team effort. The GCL Yankees used five pitchers and all five gave up at least a run in the 12-3 loss. Matt Foard took the loss and he dropped to 0-1 on the season. He gave up one run in two innings of relief.
Robbie Minor went two for four with two RBIs. Gerson Manzanillo went three for four.
The GCL Yankees had a tough time getting anything going at the plate in their 3-1 loss to the GCL Blue Jays. Zoilo Almonte singled twice and Melky Mesa doubled and scored the only run for the Yankees.
