The Thunder kicked off the Eastern League championship series with a win 5-3 over Akron. Tyler Clippard held Akron in check through the first five innings and then Steven Jackson took over for three frames to pick up the win. He gave up one run on two hits with three strikeouts.
Austin Jackson played a part in most of Trenton’s runs. He went two for four with three RBIs and a run. Gabriel Lopez went two for three with two runs.
Daniel McCutchen threw a solid game and he pushed the Thuder to within a game of making it to the Eastern League finals. He gave up one run on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six solid frames.
Cody Ehlers was the hitting star in the win. He went two for three with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI. Gabriel Lopez doubled and he scored a run.
Gabriel Lopez was a perfect four for four with a double and three RBIs inTrenton’s 8-4 win over Portland. Matt Carson also had a nice game and he went three for four with a double, an RBI and two runs.
Alan Horne improved to 12-4 on the season with a fair start. He gave up four runs on three hits and three walks with six strikeouts in six innings of work.
Mike Kinkade hit a walk off RBI single in the bottom of the tenth inning as Trenton beat Portland 4-3 in extra frames. Kinkade finished the game with three hits as did Gabriel Lopez who also drove in a run.
Charlie Maning picked up the win after getting pushed down to Double A. He threw a shutout tenth inning.
P.J. Pilittere and Gabriel Lopez both had big days at the plate in Trenton’s 9-3 win over Reading. Both had three hits and three RBIs while Bronson Sardinha went two for five with a walk and two runs. Cody Ehlers helped out with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
Jeffrey Marquez improved to 11-6 on the season with a nice start. He gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in seven innings of work.
