Tampa outlasted Clearwater tonight in a 4-3, eleven inning win. Edwar Gonzalez was the hitting star with a pair of solo homers while Eduardo Nunez drove home the go ahead run and he later scored the game winner.
Alfredo Aceves had a solid start and he gave up just one run in five innings. Jose Valdez pitched 2 2/3 shutout innings and he improved to 2-0.
Tampa took care of Dunedin 6-1 and it was Ryan Pope who set the stage on the mound. He improved to 1-1 and he gave up one run on four hits and one walk with eight strikeouts in five innings of work.
The Yankees racked up fifteen hits and three of those came from Eduardo Nunez. He doubled, drove in a run and scored twice while Tim Battle belted a two run homer.
Tampa ran into a major league pitcher on a rehab start and the end result was a two shutout. Eduardo Nunez picked up both hits and one of them was a triple.
Grant Duff gave up the only run of the game and he took the loss. Ryan Pope threw four shutout innings but that nice start went to waste.
Mitch Hilligoss singled home Kevin Smith in the bottom of the ninth to win it for the Yankees in this one. It was his second RBI of the game in the 5-4 win. Eduardo Nunez went two for four with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI.
Michael Dunn had a mediocre start and he gave up four runs in 4 1/3 innings. Edgar Soto pitched a shutout ninth inning and he picked up the win.
Mike Martinez improved to 4-4 on the season with a nice start in the Yankees 4-1 win over Sarasota. He gave up one run on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings of work.
Eduardo Nunez went two for three with a walk, a run and an RBI. Tim Battle went two for four with a run and an RBI.
Phil Coke improved to 7-2 on the season in Tampa’s 6-3 win over Brevard County. He gave up one run on three hits and two walks with one strikeout in 5 2/3 innings.
Tim Battle doubled, drove in two runs and scored. Eduardo Nunez doubled twice and drove in a run.
Anthony Claggett improved to 5-8 on the season with a nice start in Tampa’s 5-0 win over Sarasota. He gave up just four hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five shutout frames.
Christopher Malec went two for three with a double and three RBIs to lead Tampa in the win. Eduardo Nunez went two for four with a run.
The RiverDogs did a number on Kannapolis in their 10-0 win. They got good pitching from Ivan Nova, who improved to 5-4 on the season with five shutout innings. He gave up three hits with three strikeouts.
Kyle Anson had just one hit (a double) but he drove in four runs in the game. Eduardo Nunez went two for four with an RBI and three runs.
Gabriel Medina and two relievers combined to hold the Catfish to just a single hit in the RiverDogs 3-1 win. Medina gave up just the one hit with six strikeouts in six shutout frames.
Eduardo Nunez went two for four with a run. Seth Fortenberry walked twice, scored a run and drove in one.
Eric Hacker may not have picked up the win in this one, but he definitely kept the RiverDogs in the game in their 3-1 win over the Catfish. He gave up just a single run on three hits and walk with six strikeouts in seven innings. Jesse Hoover picked up the win with two shutout innings to close the game out.
Eduardo Nunez led the way at the plate with three hits (two singles, one double) and two RBIs. Mitchell Hilligoss had a great game as well. He went two for four with a triple, an RBI and two runs.
Erik Hacker fell to 3-2 on the season with a rough start in the RiverDogs 6-2 loss to Augusta. He gave up five runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five innings.

Ivan Nova was roughed up and he took his first loss of the season in a 7-1 loss to Asheville. He gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.

Eric Hacker improved to 3-1 on the season with six shutout innings over Savannah. He gave up just five hits and two walks and he struck out two.
