Trenton Splits Doubleheader With Binghamton

The Thunder and Mets each took a game as they played two to make up for last nights rain out.  The first game was an impressive pitching performance by Daniel McCutchen. He gave up just three hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in five shutout innings.  Steven Jackson shut out the Mets in the final two frames and he picked up the save. Colin Curtis was the hitting star and he went two for three with a homer and two runs.

The second game saw Trenton held to just three hits as they lost 3-1.  George Kontos gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks with one strikeout in three innings of work.

Trenton Doubles Up Akron To Win Eastern League Championship

Trenton hitters turned it up a notch as they took care of Akron in their best of five game series to take home the Eastern League championship.  Matt Carson had a huge game and he went four for five with a homerun, three RBIs and three runs.  Cody Ehlers also had four hits and he doubled, drove in a run and scored twice.

Daniel McCutchen was hardly stellar but he was good enough to pick up the win.  He gave up four runs on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five innings of work.

Daniel McCutchen Pitches Trenton To Win Over Portland

Daniel McCutchen threw a solid game and he pushed the Thuder to within a game of making it to the Eastern League finals.  He gave up one run on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six solid frames.

Cody Ehlers was the hitting star in the win.  He went two for three with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI.  Gabriel Lopez doubled and he scored a run.

Daniel McCutchen Pitches Trenton to Win Over Fisher Cats

Daniel McCutchen didn’t pick up the win, but he was impressive none the less in the Thunder’s 3-1 win over the Fisher Cats.  He gave up just one run on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings.  It was Kevin Whelan who picked up the win. He improved to 4-2 with 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief. 

Juan Miranda went two for three with with a homerun and two RBIs.  Cody Ehlers blasted a solo homerun to help out the cause.

Daniel McCutchen Has Rough Start in Trenton Loss

Daniel McCutchen fell to 3-2 on the season with a rough start in the Thunder’s 5-2 loss to Portland.  He gave up four runs on eight hits and four walks with three strikeouts in six innings of work.

Mike Kinkade was the hitting star in the loss.  He went two for four with a double and a run.

Mike Kinkade Drives in Three Runs In Trenton Win

Mike Kinkade helped push Trenton to an 8-4 win over Bowie.  He went two for three with a walk, a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.  Noah Hall also got it done and he went three for five with two doubles, a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.

Daniel McCutchen had his roughest start since joining Trenton but it was good enough for the win.  He gave up four runs on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in six innings.

Daniel McCutchen Throws Seven Shutout Innings

Daniel McCutchen improved to 2-1 on the season with a nice start in the Thunder 1-0 win over Connecticut.  He gave up five hits and he struck out seven in seven shutout innings.

Matt Carson drove in the only run of the game for either side.  He belted a solo homerun in the second inning and the long ball was his fourteenth of the season.

Daniel McCutchen Throws Six Solid Frames In Trenton Win

Daniel McCutchen improved to 1-1 on the season since his promotion with a solid start in Trenton’s 3-1 win over Reading.  He gave up one run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings pitched.

Reegie Corona went one for three with two runs in the win.  Cody Ehlers went two for three with a double and a walk.

Five Run Sixth Inning Costs Trenton A Win

Daniel McCutchen had to be disappointed in this one.  He held the Mets to four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in five shutout innings and he left the game with a 2-0 lead.  Then Tim Lavigne gave up five runs in the sixth as the Thunder blew a nice lead in a 5-2 loss.

Cody Ehlers doubled twice in the loss.  Omir Santos went two for four with a double and a run.

No-Hitter Highlights Doubleheader Sweep Over Lakeland

Tampa swept Lakeland in their twin billing and the first game made the headlines with a seven inning no-hit shutout by Daniel McCutchen and Jose Veras.  McCutchen picked up the win and he threw five of those seven innings.  He gave up five walks and he struck out two and the win pushed his record to 11-2 on the season.  Tim Battle had a nice day at the plate and he went two for three with a triple and a run.

The second game was closer but the Yankees still pulled it out.  Austin Jackson belted a two run homer to lead the offense and Anthony Clagget picked up the win and he improved to 3-8.  He gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings of work.

Daniel McCutchen Wins Tenth Game In Tampa Win

The bullpen almost let this game get away from the Yankees but Daniel McCutchen threw five solid frams in his start to pick up his tenth win of the season. He gave up one run on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

Christopher Malec went three for four with a double and a run in the 8-7 win.  Tim Battle went two for four with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.

Daniel McCutchen Pitches Tampa to Win Over Daytona

Daniel McCutchen continued his solid season with a nice start and he improved to 8-1 in Tampa’s 6-3 win.  He gave up two runs on eight hits with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Edwar Gonzalez was the hitting star in the win.  He gave went three for five with a homerun and three RBIs.

Daniel McCutchen Throws Seven Shutout Innings In Tampa Win

Daniel McCutchen improved to 7-1 on the season with an outstanding start in Tampa’s 4-0 win over Fort Myers.  He gave up just two hits and a walk and he struck out three in seven shutout innings.

Kevin Russo was the hitting star in the win.  He went three for five with a double, two RBIs and two runs.

Daniel McCutchen Is Hit Hard In Tampa Loss

Daniel McCutchen had his second straight rough start and he picked up his first loss of the season in a 9-1 loss to Palm Beach.  He gave up six runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts in five innings.

Marcos Vechionacci was the hitting star in the loss.  He went three for four.

Reegie Corona Drives In Four In Tampa Win

The Yankees blasted Brevard County 15-6 and just about everyone was a hitting star.  Every Tampa starter had a hit and all but one had at least two.  Every Tampa hitter scored at least one run and all but one drove in a run.  Reegie Corona led the way though and he followed up his three run game yesterday with a four RBI game in this one.  He went two for six with a homerun, two runs and the four RBIs.  Tim Battle also had a nice game and he went one for five with a triple, two runs and two RBIs.

Daniel McCutchen improved to 5-0 on the season with a mediocre start.  He gave up six runs on thirteen hits with three strikeouts in eight innings of work.

Tampa Loses Fourteen Inning Pitchers Duel To Vero Beach

Daniel McCutchen gave up one unearned on seven hits and a walk in seven innings of work, but unfortunately, that was just enough to send this game into extra frames.  Then in the bottom of the fourteenth, Jacinto Gonell gave up a walk off homer in the bottom of the fourteenth as Tampa walked away with a 2-1 loss.

Juan Miranda drove in the only run of the game for the Yankees.  He had the only extra base hit of the game with a triple and Colin Curtis went three for six in the loss.

Edwar Gonzalez Drives In Three Runs In Tampa Win

Edwar Gonzalez brought a big stick in Tampa’s 9-4 win over Jupiter.  He went two for five with three RBIs and a run.  Colin Curtis went three for five with two RBIs and a run.

Daniel McCutchen picked up the win and he improved to 4-0 on the season.  He gave up three runs on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

Juan Miranda Powers Tampa to Win Over Dunedin

Juan Miranda was the hitting star in the Yankees 4-3 win over Dunedin.  He only had one hit, but it was a solo homerun and he also drove in a run with a sac. fly.  Reegie Corona went two for four with two runs.

Daniel McCutchen had a really nice start and he improved to 3-0 on the season.  He gave up two runs on seven hits and he struck out seven in seven innings.

Daniel McCutchen Pitches Tampa to Win Over Dunedi

Daniel McCutchen picked up his first win of the season with 6 1/3 solid innings in his start.  He gave up just one run on three hits with two strikeouts.

Edwar Gonzalez had a nice day at the plate in the 3-2 win. He went two for four with two doubles and two RBIs.  Tim Battle finished with three hits, a run and an RBI.
