Tampa finished up their season with a 5-4 win over Sarasota and it was Garrett Patterson who picked up the win in his first game for Tampa. He gave up a run on two hits with the lone blemish being a solo homerun.
Tim Battle went two for four with a solo homerun and two runs. Christopher Malec doubled and drew a walk and he he hit an impressive .323. in 67 games for Tampa.
Jose Valdez gave up a run in the bottom of the tenth inning as the Yankees lost to Sarasota 5-4. He gave up three hits and he was able to get only one out in the inning.
Edwar Gonzalez homered and drove in three runs in the loss. Christopher Malec went two for three with a double, a triple, a walk, an RBI and two runs.
Doug Mientkiewicz was the hitting star in Tampa’s 12-2 blowout win over Lakeland. He went three for three with two doubles, five RBIs and a run. Christopher Malec also had a great day at the plate and he went three for four with a double, a walk and four runs.
Anthony Claggett improved to 8-8 on the season. He gave up one run on four hits and one walk with four strikeouts in six innings of work.
In the top of the ninth inning, Christopher Malec belted a solo homer to tie it and then Austin Jackson scored on Andres Perez’s sac. fly for the winning run. Edwar Gonzalez had a team hit three hits and he scored a run.
David Robinson picked up the win with two innings of shutout relief. He gave up a hit and struck out two and the win pushed his record to 3-1.
Phil Coke fell to 7-3 on the season with a rough start in Tampa’s 8-6 loss. He gave up six runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings of work.
Christopher Malec went two for four with three RBIs. Kevin Russo went three for three with a double, a walk and three runs.
Tampa scored four first inning runs but didn’t score again as they lost to Palm Beach 5-4. Andres Perez was the hitting star in the loss. He went three for four with a homerun and three RBIs. Christopher Malec walked twice and drew a walk.
Joshua Schmidt took the loss and he fell to 5-1. He gave up one run on four hits and two walks in just two innings.
Tampa needed plenty of offense but they got it done in a 10-7 win over Palm Beach. Christopher Malec led the way with a grand slam and five RBIs. Edwar Gonzalez went two for four with a walk and three runs.
George Kontos improved to 4-4 but it wasn’t pretty. He gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings of work.
Anthony Claggett improved to 5-8 on the season with a nice start in Tampa’s 5-0 win over Sarasota. He gave up just four hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five shutout frames.
Christopher Malec went two for three with a double and three RBIs to lead Tampa in the win. Eduardo Nunez went two for four with a run.
Tampa and Fort Myers played two because of a rain out the day before and both teams took a game. In the first game, Anthony Claggett threw five shutout frames and he improved to 4-8 on the season with the win. Christopher Malec was the hitting star and he went three for four with a run and an RBI in the 4-1 win.
In the second game, Tampa lost 4-2 and they had a tougher time getting runs across the plate. Kevin Russo went two for three with a double and an RBI to lead the way at the plate. Wilkins Arias dropped to 6-2 and he gave up three runs in two innings of relief.
Phil Coke improved to 5-1 on the season with an eight hit complete game shutout. He gave up one hit and he struck out five in the win.
Christopher Malec went three for four with two RBIs in the 8-0 win. Edwar Gonzalez went three for three with a triple and one run.
The bullpen almost let this game get away from the Yankees but Daniel McCutchen threw five solid frams in his start to pick up his tenth win of the season. He gave up one run on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

It didn’t come until his fourth at bat, but Mitchell Hilligoss extended his hitting streak to 38 games with a double. You have to feel for Christopher Malec as the Mitchell Hilligoss show overshadowed an excellent day at the plate. He went two for four with a grand slam and five RBIs.
Michael Dunn improved to 6-2 on the season with a nice start in the 5-2 win. He gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk with five strikeous in seven solid innings.
Ivan Nova improved to 3-1 on the season with a nice start in the RiverDogs 9-1 win over the Catfish. He gave up just one unearned run on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
Seth Fortenberry reached base five times (solo homerun and four walks) and Christpher Malec drove in two and scored a run despite not getting a hit. Oddly, for all of the runs scored by the RiverDogs, no hitter had more then one hit.
The RiverDogs topped Rome 7-1 and they racked up 18 hits to get those seven runs. Josue Calzado was the hitting star. He went four for five with a double, two RBIs and a run. Christopher Malec also had a nice game and he went three for four with two doubles, two RBIs and a run.
David Robertson picked up the win and he improved to 3-2 on the season with two no-hit innings of relief. He walked one and struck out three in the win.
The pitching went out the window in yesterday’s 12-6 loss to Asheville. Garrett Patterson took the loss when he gave up eight runs in three innings of relief while Angel Reyes gave up four runs in four innings in his start.
Brian Baisley had a nice game in the loss and he went three for five with a homerun and two RBIs. Jose Gil hit a solo homerun while Christopher Malec went two for three with two runs scored.
Michael Dunn had a very nice start for the RiverDogs in their 6-1 win over the Sand Gnats. He gave up a run on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings, and the win improved his record to a perfect 3-0.
Christopher Malec provided most of the offense in the win. He went three for four with two homeruns, three RBI and two runs.
Grant Duff threw seven quality innings in the RiverDogs 4-2 win. He gave up just two runs (one earned) on six hits with one strikeouts.

Five Charleson pitchers combined for ten shutout innings and fourteen strikeouts in the RiverDogs 1-0 win over Greenville. Timothy Norton led the way with five shutout innings and five strikeouts.
The only run of the game came in the bottom of the tenth when Wilmer Pino singled home Christopher Malec. Malec was the only RiverDog with two hits.
