Steven White improved to 5-3 on the season with a nice start in the Yankees 7-4 win over Syracuse. He gave up two runs on eight hits and a walk with five strikeouts in six solid innings.
Chris Basak went two for four with a homerun and two RBIs. Erubiel Durazo went two for four with a double, two RBIs and two runs.
The Yankees took care of the Red Sox in both games of their doubleheader and the wins extended their winning streak to four games. It was Ian Kennedy who got it done in the first game and he threw six shutout innings to pick up his first Triple A win of the season. He gave up five hits and a walk and he struck out nine in the 4-0 win. Alberto Gonzalez went two for three with a triple with three RBIs and a run.
The second game was more tight but it was a win none the less. The game winner came in the seventh inning when Chris Basak doubled home Kevin Reese and Bronson Sardinha to win it. T.J. Beam picked up the win with two shutout innings to close out the game.
Joba Chamberlain picked up the win his first Triple A start with a very impressive outing. It’s hard to believe this kid was in High A Tampa just a couple of months ago but he threw five shutout innings and struck out ten in the win.
Chris Basak went two for four with a double and two runs. Brett Gardner reached base four times with two singles, two walks and he scored a run.
The Yankees beat Rochester 9-4 and while Chris Basak had only one hit, he had an outstanding game. The one hit was a solo homer and he also walked three times and scored four runs. Shelly Duncan went one for two with with a homerun and two runs scored.
Eric Junge improved to 3-0 with a nice start. He gave up three runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six innings.
Chase Wright dropped to 2-2 since joining SWB and he got hit hard in his start against the Hens. He gave up seven runs on six hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
Shelly Duncan had a nice day at the plate in the 8-6 loss. He went two for five with a double, a homerun and two RBIs. Chris Basak went two for four with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
The Yankees’ hitters didn’t show in their 7-0 loss to the Mud Hens. The offense picked up just four hits and only one of those was for extra bases. Chris Basak had that with a double.
Steven Jackson was hit hard and he took the loss. He gave up five runs on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six innings.
Chris Basak singled home Kevin Thompson in the bottom of the tenth inning to win it for the Yankees. Shelly Duncan was the hitting star. He went one for two with a double, two walks, an RBI and two runs.
Chase Wright was decent and he gave up three runs in 5 1/3 innings. He gave up seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Jim Brower was very impressive and he picked up the win. He struck out five of the six batters he faced in the final two innings to pick up the win.
Justin Pope improved to 2-1 on the season with five shutout frames. He gave up three hits and a walk and he struck out two.
Chris Basak was the hitting star in the 5-2 win. He went two for three with two runs. Omir Santos hit a solo homerun.
The Yankees were blown out 8-5 and Steven Jackson had a rough start. He gave up six runs on ten hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Chris Basak had a nice day at the plate. He went two for five with a homerun and three RBIs.
Chase Wright picked up his first Triple A win of the season with a strong outing in the Yankees 9-1 win over the Clippers. He gave up one run on eight hits and one walk with two strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. This was his second nice start since struggling in his Triple A debut after getting those two starts for the big league club.
Omir Santos homered and drove in two runs in the win. Chris Basak went three for five with two doubles, a run and an RBI.
The Yankees picked up their third straight win in an 8-5 win over Richmond. Andy Phillips and Shelly Duncan each hit two run homeruns to lead the way and Angel Chavez and Chris Basak each had three hits and two runs.
Ben Kozlowski picked up the win with three shutout innings of relief. He struck out four.
