The Thunder doubled up Harrisburg 8-4 and it was Marcos Vechinonacci and Kevin Russo who got it done at the plate. Vechionacci went two for four with a double, three RBIs and two runs while Russo doubled and drove in three. P.J. Pilittere had a team high three hits and he scored twice.
Chase Wright improved to 2-1 with a nice start. He gave up one run on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings.
Trenton dropped their season opener to Binghamton today 2-0 and the offense was held to a mere two hits in the game. Both hits were singles and even with the four walks the team drew, no hitter reached base more then once.
Chase Wright had a solid enough outing but he dropped to 0-1 on the season. He gave up two runs on three hits with four strikeouts in six innings of work. David Robertson was impressive and he threw two shutout innings of relief with three strikeouts.
Trenton took a commanding 2-0 lead in their series with Akron after an exciting come from behind win. Chase Wright gave up two runs in the fourth but he calmed down and didn’t give up a run after that. In the meantime, the Thunder hitters slowly picked away at the deficit. The game winner was a walk off RBI single by Noah Hall to win it in the ninth inning.
Hall finished the 3-2 win with three hits. Colin Curtis singled, drew three walks and scored twice.
Trenton took a 1-0 lead in their playoff series with Portland behind a fantastic start by Chase Wright. He gave up just one unearned run on seven hits with six strikeouts in 6 2/3 shutout innings.
Marcos Vechionacci went two for four with an RBI. Noah Hall singled, drew a walk, scored a run and drove in one.
Trenton stormed back from a four run deficit with two runs in the eighth and two runs in the ninth to tie the game up. Then Kevin Whelan gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth to waste the effort and he fell to 3-2. Chase Wright was roughed up and he gave up six runs in five innings of work.
Colin Curtis was the hitting star in the win. He went three for five with a homerun and two RBIs.
Chase Wright improved to 5-2 with one of his best starts of the season as he went the distance in a complete game shutout. He gave up four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in the 7-0 win.
Mike Kinkade went three for four with a double, an RBI and two runs. Matt Carson went two for four with a double, two RBIs and a run.
Three errors led to two unearned runs in Trenton’s 5-2 loss to Portland and a decent start by Chase Wright went to waste as the offense failed to give him much run support. Wright gave up three runs on seven hits and five walks with two strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings and the loss dropped him to 4-2 on the season.
Mike Kinkade was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for four with two doubles and a run.

You have to feel for Chase Wright. He got off to that fantstic start for Trenton and it earned him a couple of starts for the big league club. Then he got sent down to Scranton where did he pretty well but found himself the odd man out when they wanted to test Ian Kennedy and Joba Chmaberlain at Triple A. So he ends up back at Trenton and in his first start there, he gets pummelled for ten runs in his first Double A loss of the season.
Matt Carson went two for four with a homerun and three RBIs. Juan Miranda singled, scored a run and drove in a run.
The SWB Yankees beat up on the major league ready Homer Bailey in an impressive 8-6 win. Shelly Duncan hit two solo homeruns to bring his season total up to 23 while Justin Christian went three for five with a triple and three RBIs.
Chase Wright picked up the win even without his best stuff. He improved to 7-3 and he gave up four runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings.
Chase Wright improved to 4-3 on the season with a pretty nice start in SWB’s 8-0 blowout win over Syracuse. He gave up three hits and four walks with a strikeout in seven shutout innings.
Bronson Sardinha went one for four with a homerun and four RBIs. Kevin Reese went two for two with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
SWB put five runs on the board in the final two frames but it wasn’t enough to come back and beat the Knights. Chase Wright had a rough start and the defense didn’t help things much. He gave up five runs (just one earned) on eight hits and a walk with two strikeouts in only three innings.
Shelly Duncan had two hits, including a three run homer, in the 8-7 loss. Kevin Reese went one for five with a solo homerun and two runs scored.
Angel Chavez had a big day for the Yankees in their 15-4 win over Buffalo. He went three for six with a homerun and five RBIs. Bronson Sardinha also had a nice game and he went three for four with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored.
Chase Wright coasted to an easy win with all of the run support. He improved to 3-2 and he gave up three runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Chase Wright dropped to 2-2 since joining SWB and he got hit hard in his start against the Hens. He gave up seven runs on six hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
Shelly Duncan had a nice day at the plate in the 8-6 loss. He went two for five with a double, a homerun and two RBIs. Chris Basak went two for four with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
Chris Basak singled home Kevin Thompson in the bottom of the tenth inning to win it for the Yankees. Shelly Duncan was the hitting star. He went one for two with a double, two walks, an RBI and two runs.
Chase Wright was decent and he gave up three runs in 5 1/3 innings. He gave up seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Jim Brower was very impressive and he picked up the win. He struck out five of the six batters he faced in the final two innings to pick up the win.
Angel Chavez had a big game at the plate in the Yankees 5-4 win over Richmond. He was a perfect four for four with a double and two runs. Andy Phillips went two for five with a double, a homerun two RBIs and a run.
Chase Wright had a nice start and he improved to 2-1 in Triple A. He gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings.
Chase Wright picked up his first Triple A win of the season with a strong outing in the Yankees 9-1 win over the Clippers. He gave up one run on eight hits and one walk with two strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. This was his second nice start since struggling in his Triple A debut after getting those two starts for the big league club.
Omir Santos homered and drove in two runs in the win. Chris Basak went three for five with two doubles, a run and an RBI.
Shawn Garrett had a huge game at the plate. He hit for the cycle on four hits and he drove in two runs. Brett Gardner also had a nice day at the plate. He went three for five with a triple, two RBIs and two runs in the 8-5 win.
Chase Wright picked up the win and he improved to 2-0. He gave up two runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts in six innings.
Chase Wright threw a gem today as he held Harrisburg to a single hit with ten strikeouts. Wright was drafted way back in 2001 in the third round and he had been progressing slow but this start was definitely encouraging. He’s now thrown 14 shutout innings with 19 strikeouts.
Matt Carson led Trenton at the plate. He went two for three with an RBI.
Chase Wright threw a very solid game for the Thunder today and despite throwing seven shutout innings, he walked away with the loss. He gave up just two hits and struck out nine but reliever Gerado Cadadiego gave up an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth as the Thunder lost 1-0.
At the plate, the Thunder managed just two singles and they struck out ten times. Not a pretty game.
