Tampa got to make up their rain out from yesterday and they took both games in a doubleheader against the Reds. Hector Noesi improved to 1-0 with a decent enough start. He gave up three run son six hits and a walk with five strikeouts in five innings. Seth Fortenberry went two for four with two RBIs while Austin Romine went two for three with a double, a solo home run and two runs.
Craig Heyer picked up the win in game two. He improved to 3-2 and he gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits in four innings. Jonathan Hovis threw a shutout ninth and he picked up save number 11. Mitch Hilligos went two for four with a double and two runs while Brandon Laird went two for four with a double, a home run and four RBIs.
Lance Pendleton improved to 6-4 on the season with a really nice start in Tampa’s 5-3 win over Clearwater. He gave up just five hits with six strikeouts in six shutout innings. Jonathan Hovis threw a shutout ninth inning and he picked up his eighth save of the season.
Eric Fryer went two for two with a double, a run, an RBI and two walks. Damon Sublett belted a two run homer while Brandon Laird went deep with a solo shot.
The extra day off didn’t help Tampa much as they dropped both ends of a doubleheader with Palm Beach. Game one was a 5-1 loss with the offense being held to five hits. Austin Romine doubled and drove in a run while D.J. Mitchell took the loss. He gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Game two was closer but the result was the same. Brandon Laird doubled twice and drove in a run in the 3-2 loss. Noel Castillo fell to 2-1 and he gave up a run on one hit and a walk with a strikeout in two innings of relief.
Jason Stephens fell to 2-4 on the season and he was roughed up in Tampa’s 9-7 loss to Palm Beach. He gave up eight runs on eleven hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
Brandon Laird had a nice day at the plate in the loss. He went two for four with a home run, three RBIs and two runs. Seth Fortenberry went two for five with a double and a run.
Brandon Laird went four for with a double and a solo homerun as the GCL Yankees 5-2 win over the GCL Blue Jays. Wady Rufino went went three for four with a run.
Casey Erickson improved to 3-1 with the win. He gave up two runs on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings of work.
Manuel Barreda improved to 4-0 on the season with a nice start in the GCL Yankees 4-3 win over the GCL Phillies. He gave up two runs on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
Brandon Laird was the hitting star in the win. He went three for four with a double and two runs.
Jairo Heredia fell to 2-2 on the season with a rough relief appearance in the GCL Yankees 6-4 loss to the GCL Braves. He gave up four runs on nine hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five innings of relief.
Abraham Almonte went four for four with a double and two solo homeruns. Brandon Laird belted a two run homer in the loss.
The GCL Yankees took care of the GCL Tigers 9-7 and it was Brandon Laird who provided the bulk of the offense. He homered twice and drove in five runs in the win. Prilys Cuello went two for four with a triple, two RBIs and a run.
Timothy Dennehy improved to 5-1 despite getting roughed up. He gave up five runs (three earned) on eight hits with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.
The GCL Yankees lost to the GCL Phillies 3-2 despite the Phillies making four errors in the game. Brandon Laird was one of the hitting stars in the loss and he went three for four while Zoilo Almonte and Wady Rufino both hit solo homers in the loss.
Casey Erickson took the loss and he fell to 2-1. He gave up three runs on four hits and one walk with two strikeouts in five innings.
Timothy Dennehy threw five shutout innings in a nice start in the GCL Yankees 3-2 win over the GCL Tigers. He gave up just three hits and a walk with three strikeouts and the win pushed his record to 4-1 on the season.
Wady Rufino was one of the hitting stars and he went two for four with a two run homer. Brandon Laird went two for four and he scored two runs.
Timothy Dennehy improved to 1-1 on the season with a solid relief appearance in the GCL Yankees 5-4 win over the GCL Phillies. He gave up one hit and two walks with two strikeouts in four shutout innings.
Prilys Cuello hit a solo homerun in the win. Brandon Laird went two for four with a double and two RBIs.
