Staten Island’s season is winding down but they’re making the best of it with another win. They edged Tri-City 4-3 behind the bat of Braedyn Pruitt, who homered and drove in three of the Yankees four runs. Taylor Holiday also had a nice game and he went two for three with a walk and a run.
Jonathan Ortiz picked up the win and he improved to 5-0. He gave up two walks with a strikeout in 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
Ryan Pope improved to 3-0 on the season with a nice start in the Yankees 4-2 win over Brooklyn. He gave up two runs on six hits and one walk with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Austin Krum went three for five with a double and two RBIs. Braedyn Pruitt went two for five with an RBI and a run.
Jose Gil had a big day at the plate as Staten Island came from behind to beat Lowell 9-6. Gil went four for five with a double, a homerun, two RBIs and two runs. Braedyn Pruitt went two for five with a double, two RBIs and a run.
Ryan Zink improved to 6-1 with 2 2/3 innings of solid relief. He gave up one hit and one walk and he struck out five.
Staten Island had twice as many hits as Brooklyn did (6-3) but the Cyclones were the only team to put a run across the plate in the Yankees 1-0 loss. Braedyn Pruitt was the only Yankee with two hits in the game.
Chris Farley took the loss despite giving up just one hit. He gave up a run on two walks and a hit with seven strikeouts in four innings.
Jeffrey Livek gave up two runs in the top of the eleventh inning and he fell to 1-2 as the Yankees lost to the Tigers 4-2. It was disappointing because up until that inning, three Yankee pitchers combined to hold Oneonta to just two runs in ten innings.
Jose Gil belted a solo homer to account for one of the Yankees runs. Braedyn Pruitt continued his hot hitting and he went two for three with a walk. That raised his season batting average to .468 in the nineteen games he’s played. Not too bad for a guy the Yankees got in the fourteenth round of this year’s draft.
Craig Heyer improved to 2-0 on the season with four innings of shutout relief. He gave up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in the 4-2 win.
Braedyn Pruitt went two for four with a two run homer. Justin Snyder went three for four with a double.
Damon Sublett led the way at the plate for Staten Island in their 9-5 win over Oneonta. He doubled twice, scored two runs and drove in two. Braedyn Pruitt went three for five with a solo homerun.
Jason Stephens picked up the win with five innings of impressive relief. He gave up just one run on two hits with three strikeouts.
Staten Island lost to Mahoning Valley 7-5 but Justin Snyder was the hitting star in the loss. He went three for four with a solo homerun and he scored two runs in the win. Braedyn Pruitt went one for one with two walks, a walk and an RBI.
Jason Kiley took the loss and he fell to 2-1 on the season. He gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk with one strikeout in 1 1/3 innings.
Staten Island blew a four run lead in the ninth inning but then turned around in the bottom half of the inning and won it when Braedyn Pruitt drew a bases loaded walk off walk. Pruitt finished the game two for four with a double, two RBIs and a run. Justin Snyder, who scored on the bases loaded walk, went three for four with a double and two RBIs.
Jason Kiley picked up the win despite giving up two of the tying runs in the ninth. To his credit, they both happened after a costly error. Kiley improved to 2-0 on the season.
Staten Island lost to Brooklyn 5-1 in both team’s season opener. Gabriel Medina gave up just one hit with six strikeouts in five shutout innings while Nicholas Chigges gave up three runs in two innings and he took the loss.
Braedyn Pruitt had three hits in the loss. Justin Snyder tripled and he scored the only run for the Yankees.
