Tampa got to make up their rain out from yesterday and they took both games in a doubleheader against the Reds. Hector Noesi improved to 1-0 with a decent enough start. He gave up three run son six hits and a walk with five strikeouts in five innings. Seth Fortenberry went two for four with two RBIs while Austin Romine went two for three with a double, a solo home run and two runs.
Craig Heyer picked up the win in game two. He improved to 3-2 and he gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits in four innings. Jonathan Hovis threw a shutout ninth and he picked up save number 11. Mitch Hilligos went two for four with a double and two runs while Brandon Laird went two for four with a double, a home run and four RBIs.
The offense wasn’t anything special but Tampa got just enough in a 4-3 win over Clearwater. Jack Rye went two for four with a solo home run and a walk. Austin Romine went two for four with a solo shot.
Ryan Zink improved to 4-6 on the season with a decent enough start. He gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks in six innings of work.
The extra day off didn’t help Tampa much as they dropped both ends of a doubleheader with Palm Beach. Game one was a 5-1 loss with the offense being held to five hits. Austin Romine doubled and drove in a run while D.J. Mitchell took the loss. He gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Game two was closer but the result was the same. Brandon Laird doubled twice and drove in a run in the 3-2 loss. Noel Castillo fell to 2-1 and he gave up a run on one hit and a walk with a strikeout in two innings of relief.
Three errors led to a total of four unearned runs in the Yankees 8-4 loss to Palm Beach. Lance Pendleton took the loss and he dropped to 5-4. He gave up four unearned runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts in four innings.
Austin Romine went two for five with a run and an RBI. Matthew Cusick went two for three with a double and a run.
The Yankees got some very solid pitching this afternoon as they took care of Charlotte 3-2. Jason Stephens got the start and he gave up just a single run in five innings. Then Lance Pendleton gave up just a single run in three innings and he picked up the win to improve to 4-3.
Austin Romine went two for four with a double and an RBI. Jesus Montero singled twice and he drove in one run.
Sergio Mitre was roughed up in his start as the Yankees lost to Charlotte 8-5. He gave up five runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
Austin Romine accounted for the bulk of the Yankees offense with a three run blast. Jesus Montero went three for four with a home run and two runs.
Charleston was doubled up by the Sand Gnats 6-3 and they managed their three runs on just four hits. Austin Romine was the hitting star and he went two for four with a run and an RBI.
Zachary McAllister took the loss despite a decent start. He gave up three runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in six innings.
