SWB is now one loss away from being eliminated from their run for the Governor’s Cup after a 6-4 loss. The Yankees led most of this game but then Sean Henn was tagged for four runs in the eighth inning. It’s too bad because a nice start by Matt DeSalvo went to waste. He gave up two runs on five hits and and three walks with five strikeouts in seven innings.
Andy Cannizaro and Raul Chavez each hit solo homers in the loss. Angel Chavez went two for four with a run and an RBI.
The Yankees took care of Syracuse 6-2 and it was Steven White who got it done on the mound. He gave up three hits and five walks with seven strikeouts in seven shutout innings to improve to 6-4.
Angel Chavez had a huge day at the plate. He went three for five with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs. Doug Mientkiewicz went three for five with a double, a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
SWB had plenty of hitting stars in their 11-2 win over Ottawa but Jose Cruz, Jr. was a notch above the rest. He went four for five with three doubles, two RBIs and two runs. Angel Chavez went two for four with a double, two RBIs and three runs.
Lost in all of the offense was a very nice start by Matt DeSalvo. He gave up one run on seven hits and three walks with nine strikeouts in eight frames.
Steven White fell to 5-4 on the season with a rough start in SWB’s 6-3 loss to Rochester. He gave up six runs (three earned) on ten hits and two walks with two strikeouts in five innings.
Angel Chavez homered and drove in two runs in the loss. Jose Cruz, Jr. went two for four with a double and a run.
Angel Chavez doubled home Brett Gardner in the top of the eleventh inning to win it for the Yankees. Chavez also pitched in earlier in the 5-4 win with a solo homerun and Bronson Sardinha had a team high three hits.
Ian Kennedy had a mediocre start (for him) and he gave up three runs on seven hits and four walks with two strikeout in two innings. Edwar Ramirez struck out five in two innings and he improved to 1-0 on the season.
Angel Chavez singled home Alberto Gonzalez in the bottom of the ninth inning to break a 1-1 tie as SWB took care of Buffalo 2-1. The win came despite Yankee hitters picking up just five hits in the entire game and no hitter had more then one.
Chris Britton picked up the win and he improved to 4-1. He gave up one hit and he struck out one in a shutout ninth inning.
Philip Hughes continues to his impress in his rehab stint and he improved to 4-1 for SWB. He gave up just three hits and three walks with four strikeouts in 6 2/3 shutout innings in the 3-0 win. As an aside, the Yankees are going to put Joba Chamberlain in the pen because the big league club appears to be pretty dissatisfied with Kyle Farnsworth so his time at SWB could be coming to an end pretty soon.
Angel Chavez went one for three with two RBIs. Justin Christian went two for three with a walk and a run in the loss.
Most of this game was an interesting 1-1 pitchers duel that went through ten innings. Then in the eleventh, the Bats exploded for five runs to open the game up in what turned out to be a 6-1 loss. Jeff Karstens threw six shutout innings but that was essentially wasted when Charlie Manning was tagged for five runs in the eleventh.
Angel Chavez drove in the only run for the Yankees with a solo shot in the eighth inning. Wil Nieves went two for five.
Colter Bean gave up a grand slam in the first inning but while the Yankees clawed back into it, the pen allowed four runs in what turned into an 8-4 loss. Steven Jackson gave up one of those four runs but it was the one that mattered and he took the loss.
Bronson Sardinha and Angel Chavez each had identical lines. They both had two singles, a run and an RBI in the loss.
The Yankees actually outhit Buffalo but came up short on the scoreboard in their 3-2 loss. Eric Junge gave up two of those runs and he took the loss. in his two innings of relief.
Angel Chavez provided all of the offense in this game. He hit a two run homerun to account for both of the Yankees’ two runs.
Angel Chavez had a big day for the Yankees in their 15-4 win over Buffalo. He went three for six with a homerun and five RBIs. Bronson Sardinha also had a nice game and he went three for four with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored.
Chase Wright coasted to an easy win with all of the run support. He improved to 3-2 and he gave up three runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Steven Jackson dropped to 3-7 on the season in a tough start in the Yankees 7-2 loss. He gave up six runs (three earned) on eight hits with five strikeouts in five innings.
Alberto Gonzalez went two for four with a double and an RBI. Angel Chavez went two for four with a double and a solo homerun.
The Yankees had a tough time at the plate today and they were held to a single run on four hits in a 4-1 loss to Rochester. Angel Chavez went two for three with a double and he drove in the only run of the game for the Yankees.
Kei Igawa had a decent start but he dropped to 0-2 for the Yankees because of the lack of run support. He gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in seven innings.
The Yankees beat Indianapolis 8-5 and Angel Chavez played a big part in the win. He went three for four with a double, a homerun, three RBIs and two runs. Kevin Reese went three for four with two RBIs and a run.
Eric Junge was hit hard and he gave up five runs in five innings in his start. Ben Kozlowski threw two perfect frames and he picked up the win.
Steven Jackson dropped to 3-5 on the season with a toug start in the Yankees 8-5 loss to Indianapolis. He gave up six runs on eleven hits and two walks with a strikeout in 4 2/3 innings.
Angel Chavez was the hitting star in the loss. He doubled three time, drove in two runs and scored twice.
Angel Chavez had a big game at the plate in the Yankees 5-4 win over Richmond. He was a perfect four for four with a double and two runs. Andy Phillips went two for five with a double, a homerun two RBIs and a run.
Chase Wright had a nice start and he improved to 2-1 in Triple A. He gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings.
Shelly Duncan hit a huge three run homerun to cap off a five run fourth inning to lead the Yankees to the win. Angel Chavez also had a nice day at the plate and he went two for four with two runs and an RBI.
Ross Ohlendorf walked six batters in four innings. T.J. Beam picked up the win in relief as he threw 2 2/3 shutout innings.
The Yankees picked up their third straight win in an 8-5 win over Richmond. Andy Phillips and Shelly Duncan each hit two run homeruns to lead the way and Angel Chavez and Chris Basak each had three hits and two runs.
Ben Kozlowski picked up the win with three shutout innings of relief. He struck out four.
The SWB Yankees lost to the Norfolk Tides today in a showdown of top prospects. Tyler Clippard went toe to toe with Hayden Penn but neither starter got a decision. Clippard gave up two runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings of work. Unfortunately three relievers combined to give up five runs in the eighth inning as the Yankees lost the game.
Angel Chavez led the way for the Yankees at the plate. He went two for four with two RBIs.
