The Thunder lost one then won one as they took on Bowie in a doubleheader yesterday. Game one saw the Thuder’s bats fall flat and they picked up just five hits in the 7-2 loss. Edwar Gonzalez led the way and he went two for three with a solo home run. Ryan Pope gave up seven runs (three earned) in six innings and he fell to 2-4 on the season.
Game two was closer but it was a 5-4 win. James Cooper went two for three with a run and two RBIs. Amaury Sanit improved to 1-1 because he was the last pitcher and he got the win despite allowing a tying run in the top of the ninth to score on his watch.
Josh Schmidt improved to 4-1 on the season with a really nice start in the Thunder’s 2-0 win over Bowie. He gave up just two hits and a walk with three strikeouts in five shutout innings. Amaury Sanit threw a shutout ninth and he picked up his sixth save of the season.
Kyle Anson went two for three with an RBI. Noah Hall didn’t pick up a hit, but he scored two runs.
