The RiverDogs lost 4-1 in a game where the offense all but disappeared. David Adams was the lone standout and he had two of the RiverDogs two hits and he drove in the lone run.
Jonathan Ortiz took the loss. He gave up three runs in the seventh inning.
Josh Towers fell to 0-4 on the season with another rough start in the Yankees 7-5 loss to Louisville. He gave up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits with two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
Shelley Duncan had another nice game and he singled and drove in two runs. Austin Jackson also pitched with a single and two RBIs.
Zach McAllister improved to 4-2 on the season with a nice start in the Thunder’s 4-1 win over Curve. He gave up just a single run on five hits and three walks with ten strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. Kanekoa Texeira pitched 2 1/3 innings of shutout ball and he picked up his first save of the season.
Chris Malec singled, drove in two and scored a run. Kevin Smith singled in his only at bat and he had one RBI.
The Yankees got some very solid pitching this afternoon as they took care of Charlotte 3-2. Jason Stephens got the start and he gave up just a single run in five innings. Then Lance Pendleton gave up just a single run in three innings and he picked up the win to improve to 4-3.
Austin Romine went two for four with a double and an RBI. Jesus Montero singled twice and he drove in one run.
The RiverDogs couldn’t quite get their bats going and they managed just one run on five hits in a 3-1 loss to Greenville. Corban Joseph singled and drove in a run while Melky Mesa singled and scored a run.
A pretty good start by David Phelps went to waste. He gave up one run on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings. Cory Arbiso gave up two runs in the final two innings and he fell to 1-4 with the loss.
Sergio Mitre was roughed up in his start as the Yankees lost to Charlotte 8-5. He gave up five runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
Austin Romine accounted for the bulk of the Yankees offense with a three run blast. Jesus Montero went three for four with a home run and two runs.
The Thunder scored four runs in the final two frames to take care of the Curve 5-3. Justin Snyder was one of the hitting stars and he went two for four with a home run and three RBIs. Noah Hall doubled and he drove in two.
Kevin Whelan picked up the win and he improved to 1-0. He threw two shutout frames to close out the game.
Shelley Duncan brought a bit stick as the Yankees took care of the Bats 9-3. He went two for four with two homers and five RBIs. John Rodriguez and Todd Linden also went yard in the win.
Zachary Kroenke improved to 4-0 with 1 2/3 innings of shutout relief. Anthony Claggett pitched the final three frames and he picked up his second save of the season.
John Rodriguez was one of several hitting stars in the Yankees 10-4 win over the Red Sox. He finished two for five with a home run, three RBIs and two runs. Shelly Duncan also pitched in with a home run, three RBIs and two runs whle Austin Jackson went four for five with a double, an RBI and a run.
Kei Igawa improved to 4-1 on the season. He gave up three runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings.
My son’s little league is back in full gear and I bought him a new Nokona glove to try out. We’re still breaking it in but he’s already made a couple of nice plays in the field with it. I also have a new toy of my own. I picked up a new Demarini baseball bat for my softball league. The bat gave me just enough extra pop to put one over the fence this past week.
